Russia and Japan congratulate President Sirisena

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir V. Putin and Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe have congratulated President Maithripala Sirisena on his assumption as the President of Sri Lanka.

Russia:

Russian President congratulates President of the Russian Federation Vladimir V. Putin in a congratulatory message to President Maithripala Sirisena said he highly appreciates friendly and constructive relations between Russia and Sri Lanka and he would like to reaffirm the readiness for further strengthening of fruitful bilateral cooperation in various areas.

The message: Please accept my sincere congratulations on your election to the post of the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

I highly appreciate friendly and constructive relations between Russia and Sri Lanka and I would like to reaffirm the readiness for further strengthening of fruitful bilateral cooperation in various areas. This corresponds to fundamental interests of our two nations, contributes to promotion of regional stability and security.

I wish you good health, well-being and all the success in your responsible activities as the Head of State, it said.

Congratulatory Message from Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe:

I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations to Your Excellency on your assumption of the office of the new President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

I look forward to working closely with you in order to further develop our bilateral relations based on the long-time friendship, and to contribute together toward the prosperity of the entire region.

Japan, as a nation longing for peace, will continue to fully support Sri Lanka efforts toward the realization of the national reconciliation.
