Sri Lanka to be reviewed at the 28th Session of the Universal Periodic Review Working Group on 15 November 2017

Sri Lanka's Report under the Universal Periodic Review comes up for consideration by the OHCHR Working Group on UPR on Wednesday 15 November 2017, in Geneva. 

The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) was established by the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) in 2006, as a process through which the human rights record of every UN Member State is peer-reviewed.

Ceylon Tea was promoted at a “Tea Festival” organized by the Royal Botanical Garden in Burlington, Ontario, in partnership with the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Toronto and the Tea Association of Canada, held on 4th - 5th November 2017 at the Royal Botanical Garden in Burlington.

on the Sri Lanka-United States Partnership Dialogue

November 6, 2017

Sharing a commitment to democracy, rule of law, and the prosperity and well-being of our peoples, Sri Lanka and the United States convened the second Partnership Dialogue on November 6, 2017, in Colombo, Sri Lanka.  The meeting was led by Sri Lanka Foreign Secretary Prasad Kariyawasam and U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Thomas Shannon.  The Partnership Dialogue demonstrates the consolidation of cooperation between the United States and Sri Lanka, and serves to further strengthen and enhance bilateral relations in the widest sense, through regular and structured engagement.

Foreign Minister Tilak Marapana meets Vice Premier of China

Hon. Tilak Marapana, Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is on an official visit to China to attend the celebrations of the 60th Anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 65th Anniversary of economic relations between Sri Lanka and China, met with Chinese Vice Premier H.E. Wang Yan on 1st November 2017 in Beijing.

Marshall Legacy Institute honours Sri Lanka Army Mine Detection Dog Team for the Second Consecutive Year

A Mine Detection Dog (MDD) Team from the Sri Lanka Army was honoured by the U.S.-based Marshall Legacy Institute (MLI) at its 20th Anniversary Clearing the Path Gala in Washington D.C on October 24. This is the second consecutive year the honour has been bestowed on a Sri Lankan mine detection dog team.

Consular Division wins Two Awards at the 19th National Best Quality ICT Awards

The Consular Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was awarded the Public Sector Most Outstanding ICT Achievement Award and the Gold Award in the Government and Public Sector Category at the 19th National Best Quality ICT Awards held at the Hotel Taj Samudra on 06th October 2017.
