We are pleased to inform that the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Washington, DC is organizing a special flight to arrive at the new Mattala International Airport during the Inauguration Ceremony on March 18, 2013. The fares for the round trip Emirates flights from the United States to Sri Lanka is via Dubai and from Dubai, the group will travel on a Sri Lankan Airlines flight to Mattala International Airport.

The flight quotations for the US locations are as follows:

1. Departing from Washington, DC (IAD) on March 16th at 10:55am and arriving in   Dubai on March 17th at 8:00am (hotel provided in Dubai) - $1168.50

2. Departing from Los Angeles (LAX) on March 16th at 4:45pm and arriving in Dubai on March 17th at 7:35pm - $1533.50

3. Departing from New York (JFK) on March 16th at 11:00pm and arriving in Dubai on March 17th at 7:45pm - $1153.50

4. Departing from Houston (IAH) on March 16th at 6:50pm and arriving in Dubai on March 17th at 6:45pm - $1165

The return flights are scheduled to leave Colombo  on the early morning of either March 28th or March 29th and arrive  at the US locations on the afternoon of March 28th/March 29th. If you wish to return on a different date, please discuss  with Upul's Travel Service, the travel coordinator.

Those flying from Canada can either take an Emirates flight from Toronto, DC, or New York. There will be a price difference, which the travel coordinator will advise.

After the opening ceremony at the  Mattala International Airport, those who are not joining the special 10 day tour will travel to Colombo by luxury buses.

The travelers who wish to participate in a 10 day tour exploring Sri Lanka, please see the attached itinerary for the details. The cost for this tour will be $3,500 (including economy airfare) per person for 2 people on a shared basis, and $4,000 (including economy airfare) for a traveler with a single room.

Those  who wish to visit Jaffna, there will be a special flight arranged from Mattala to Jaffna (Palali) soon after the official ceremony. Please let the Embassy of Sri Lanka in DC know if you are interested in this option.
