The Most Venerable Aggamahapanditha Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Rathanapala  Mahanayake Thero of the Asgiriya Chapter of Sri Lanka passed away this morning, Wednesday 8th April  at the Mount Elizabeth Orchard Hospital in Singapore.

The Most Venerable Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Mahanayake Thero arrived in Singapore last month and was being treated at the Mount Elizabeth Orchard Hospital since then.

In consultation with President Maithripala Sirisena, the Ministry of Buddha Sasana, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, relevant Government authorities and the Venerable Clergy, the Sri Lanka High Commission in Singapore has made arrangements to complete necessary formalities and transport the remains of the Most Venerable Aggamahapanditha Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Rathanapala  Mahanayake Thero to be flown to Sri Lanka tonight, 8th April 2015 on flight UL 309 at 1950 hrs.

Arrangements were also made for a large number of Sri Lankans in Singapore, clergy and members of the diplomatic corps to pay last respects to the Most Venerable Thero prior to the transfer of remains to Sri Lanka.
