Authentication of Documents
Unmarried Certificate
- Letter of request
- Unmarried certificate issued by the Canadian authorities ( document should be certified by the Department of Foreign Affairs & International Trade, Canada) or Unmarried certificate issued in Sri Lanka (should be certified by the Consular Division of the Ministry of External Affairs in Sri Lanka)
- Money order for in favour of “The High Commission of Sri Lanka” or Cash if submitted at the High Commission (See Fees)
- Prepaid envelope or additional CA$ 16.00 as postage
Power of Attorney/Certification of Signature
1.Letter of request
2. The Power of Attorney document (signature certification will be done in the presence of an officer at the Mission )
or
If the Power of Attorney document has been already certified by a Lawyer, then the document should be certified by the Department of Foreign Affairs & International Trade, Canada prior to sending it to the Mission
3. Money order for See fees in favour of “The High Commission of Sri Lanka” or Cash if submitted at the High Commission

Proof of Residence
- Letter of request
- Applicant’s status in Canada (Copy of PR Card / Work Permit / Dual Citizenship Certificate / Study Permit / Letter from Canadian Immigration which indicates applicant’s present status in Canada
- Copy of the Passport
- Utility Bill in the name of the applicant
- Money order for in favour of “The High Commission of Sri Lanka” or Cash if submitted at the High Commission (See Fees)
- Prepaid envelope or additional CA$ 16.00 as postage
Sri Lanka Driving License
Please note that the applicant should submit to the Sri Lanka High Commission in Ottawa/Sri Lanka Consulate in Toronto a letter issued by the Department of Motor Traffic of Sri Lanka certifying the genuineness of the Sri Lanka Driving License issued to the applicant, with the authentication by the Consular Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka.
Any Other Canadian documents issued by the Canadian Government that need to be authenticated, must follow the above process.
Note
1. This High Commission is not responsible for any document lost in the post.
2. Submission of forged documents and making false declarations is a punishable offence and the fees already paid will not be refunded.
3. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
