Colombo International Tea Convention 2017

8th, 9th , 10th & 11th of August 2017, Colombo, Sri Lanka

The  Colombo  Tea  Traders  Association which  is  the  apex  body  for  the  Tea  trade  will  be  organizing the  Colombo International Tea Convention from the 9th – 11th August 2017 at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel Colombo. It will begin with the FAO Inter Governmental Group on the 7th & 8th August 2017. 

It has been 4753 years since Tea was discovered in China. Over the last four millennia this simple green leaf, has shaped empires, commerce and technology from the Far East to Europe. The influence Tea has had on the history of the modern world is truly intriguing and cannot be told simply. 150 years of the Tea industry in Sri Lanka will be celebrated next year. 

In today’s modern world the Tea industry operates alongside many other industries, each other essential for the others success. As such the organizers of this milestone event, intend to have speakers from diverse backgrounds sharing their stories and knowledge through this convention. By doing so this conference aims to formulate strategies for the challenging future ahead. 

The target audience for this event will be tea manufacturers, exporters and suppliers from all over the world. In the year 2012 we had over 150 foreign delegates from Europe, UK, North America, Africa, Russia, Middle East, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh,  Vietnam,  Singapore,  China,  Japan  and  Australia  and  over  300  local  participants  who  attended  the convention.

 The Programme is as follows: 

08th August 2017- Welcome cocktails.

09th August 2017- Opening Ceremony and Sessions at BMICH & Presidents Tea Party

10th August 2017- Sessions and Gala Dinner at Cinnamon Grand Hotel.

11th August 2017 - Sessions at Cinnamon Grand, Beach Party at Mount Lavinia Hotel.
